In the year 2000, God showed me an image, shown below, that represents the Church. The three corners are represented by three different areas: The Word of God, The Love of God, and The Power of God. These are the cornerstones of the church which Jesus manifested perfectly.
These are the focus of the Church. God told me that a church that strikes a balance of these three, where each is operating at a maximum, will have unlimited growth due to the magnetic-like attraction. The sweet spot is the area in the center of the triangle. A sweet spot is a term used in sports like baseball, tennis, and golf. It’s the location on the bat, racquet, or club where the maximum results are obtained for the effort exerted.
Love of God
The Love of God (agape) is for unconditionally serving with the right attitude. This is not brotherly love (Phileo) which is conditional love. Agape willingly extends love to the unlovable because of the desire to help them. Serving includes giving of your time, a meal, praying, sharing the word of God, patience. Pastors are usually leaders in this area.
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like to it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Power of God
The Power of God includes the nine manifestations of the spirit.
1 Corinthians 12
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit with.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.
Seven of these manifestations are frequently displayed in the Old Testament. On the day of Pentecost speaking in tongues and interpretation of tongues were added. Prophets are usually leaders in this area.
The Word of God
The Word of God is the Bible rightly divided.
17 So then faith [believing] comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Believing is based on hearing the Word of God.
2 Timothy 3
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished to all good works.
Every verse of scripture is profitable but you have to know the verse and then believe it. Teachers are usually leaders in this area.
Years later I saw a verse in 2 Timothy chapter 1 that explains the triangle above.
7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
The three corners of the triangle are listed: Power, Love, and a sound (sane) mind. The sane mind is a result of thinking God’s thoughts and ways which are written in the Bible. All of this is contrasted with the spirit of fear. Fear does not come from God.
Most churches have a blend of the elements of this triangle, but the center is skewed. Some churches are strong on love and serving, but no manifestations are in evidence. Some churches are strong on teaching but become rigid due to a lack of love. Some churches are strong in the manifestations but lack a solid foundation due to weak teaching. Targeting the sweet spot eliminates these weaknesses.
This triangle not only applies to churches but also to members of the body. We should each strive for this balance in our lives because the church is a collection of the members of the body.
