The Chief Corner Stone

chief corner stone

Mark 12

10And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

Head of the corner is also called the chief corner stone. This is a term used in masonry when constructing a building. The corner stone is a foundation stone that is laid first. It’s placement is critical because the remainder of the building will be referenced and aligned with the chief corner stone.

The chief corner stone is a reference to Jesus Christ. The builders are the religious leaders are the ones that rejected, condemned, and crucified him. Mark 12:10 is a quote from Psalm.

Psalm 118

22The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

The body of Christ is compared to a building, God’s building. This signifies the unity of the believers.

1 Corinthians 3

For we are laborers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

The body of Christ is a spiritual building, not made with hands.

2 Corinthians 5

1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Ephesians 2

21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

The body is fitly framed together like a building. The strength and durability of the body of Christ is based on how much our lives are in alignment with the scriptures. Thank God for Jesus, our Chief Corner Stone, for being our reference point.
